Douglas Patterson, AIA, LEEDPresident
Douglas Patterson, President of Living Designs Group, has committed his practice and his firm to projects of a highest sustainable caliber. His skill in design, collaboration, and management has completed some of the largest and greenest projects in Northern New Mexico. His efforts as a design professional and advocate for sustainable design have advanced the commitment of Living Designs Group as well as the general building community. His skill as a public presenter and negotiator has guided some of the most visionary land use approvals and development. Under his leadership Living Designs group has become a leader of Sustainable Developments for the resort community as well as filling the development needs for schools, campuses, multifamily projects and commercial developments. Living Designs Group has also grown into a multifaceted firm offering engineering services for water recycling, structural, and civil projects. Douglas holds both an Masters of Science in Advanced Architectural Design from Columbia University and an Masters of Architecture from the University of New Mexico and is a LEED accredited design professional through the USGBC. He is a licensed architect registered in New Mexico and a member of the American Institute of Architects.
John Szerdi, Architect/Planner, AIA, LEEDVice President of Business Development
John Szerdi began working on numerous design/build projects for the founder of Living Designs Group, Tom Worrell, in 1993. Later, in 1998, John joined forces with Tom Worrell as Chief Architect for Worrell’s Dharma Properties. John has been instrumental in many aspects of operations, including, land acquisitions, master planning and gaining numerous planning and zoning approvals. During the same period, John has focused on the architectural design and the incorporation of water systems into many green building projects, including El Monte Sagrado Resort in Taos, NM. John holds both a B.A. and an M.A. in Architecture from the University of Florida and is a LEED accredited design professional through the USGBC. He is a Professional Architect specializing in Environmental and Green Building Design and is registered in New Mexico and Florida. He is also a registered General Contractor in Florida.
David HenryArchitect/Project Manager
David Henry brings a broad range of professional skills to each of his projects stemming from his wide interest in the process of design and construction. He typically takes projects from conception through to completion with an intense focus on achieving the project vision and meeting the needs of the buildings users. His strength lies in the focus and attention to detail required to complete projects. He has a unique understanding of passive solar design and low-impact architecture. David obtained his Masters Degree in Architecture from Washington University in St. Louis, is a third generation graduate of the University of New Mexico, earning a Bachelor of Arts in architecture, class of 1991. David is a licensed architect in New Mexico and Washington State. He is a member of the New Mexico Solar Energy Association and an NCARB certificate holder.
Bowe EllisDesign Engineer
Bowe brings a diverse engineering background to Living Designs Group. He endeavors to maintain a multifaceted role with highlights in solar design and construction administration. Always up for the challenge, he likes to play his strength in versatility as an essential asset in this equally diverse and flexible company. Bowe received an M.S. in Electrical Engineering from University of California, Berkeley, and a B.S. in Electrical Engineering from University of Virginia. He has furthered his professional education in the fields of microbiology and micro-electromechanical systems (MEMS) through work at Sandia National Laboratory, and has authored in a variety of trade journals. His recent forays have been into control systems, thermal modeling, and on-site system integration. Bowe also finds an avid interest in photography and world travel and even seems to dabble in the esoteric art of chicken raising.
Israel PadillaArchitectural Technician
As an Architectural and Engineering Technician for Living Designs Group, Israel is responsible for a number of roles ranging from design, drafting and illustration of various engineered projects to construction management and oversight. Israel has an extensive background in Architectural and Civil design, including training in AutoCAD. He also teaches computer aided drafting and design at the University of New Mexico, Taos.
